Shrink tubing

Q1.What is heat shrink tubing?
A. Heat shrink tubing , as the name suggests, is a tube that shrinks and reduces in diameter when heated.
Although we use the word "shrink," to be precise, this product utilizes the ability to "return to its original shape."

It is commonly called "Sumitube," but this is a registered trademark of a certain shrink tube manufacturer, and shrink tube does not necessarily mean Sumitube.
Heat shrink tubing is mainly used to insulate the connections and terminals of electric wires, and is also used to identify electric wires and prevent electrolytic corrosion.
Heat shrink tubing is almost always used in devices that carry electricity, and unlike non-shrinkable tubing, it can be used in a wide range of diameters and can be used in places with uneven surfaces . It has many advantages, such as being able to fit the object and being waterproof, making it a product that has been loved for many years.
Q2.How is heat shrink tubing made?
A. There are various materials, including polyolefin resins and fluorine-based materials, but until they are molded into a shape, they are formed by extrusion molding , just like regular tubes.

First, the materials are mixed, and then the extruder heater heats the extruder to form a tube, which is then rapidly cooled to complete the "non-shrinkable tube."The tube is then subjected to a process called "irradiation cross-linking."
Crosslinking is a reaction that links together polymers, which are compounds formed by the polymerization (bonding to form chains or networks) of multiple monomers, changing their physical and chemical properties. Before crosslinking, the molecules of the tube are randomly aligned. However, by irradiation and crosslinking, the molecules are neatly aligned in a chain, making the tube stronger (at the same time, the heat resistance temperature also increases). After that, in the crosslinked state, the tube is stretched evenly using a special method to increase its diameter (because the molecules of crosslinked tubes are evenly aligned, they can be stretched neatly).

This is how heat-shrinkable tubing is made. When heat is applied to the heat-shrinkable tubing, the tubing tries to return to the uniform molecular alignment it had after cross-linking, causing a reaction that causes it to "shrink."
*Incidentally, irradiation and cross-linking involves the application of radiation, so it is carried out 35 meters underground under strict safety management.
Q3. How do you shrink heat shrink tubing?
A. Basically, all you need to do is apply the temperature required for shrinkage, so there are various methods.
(On the other hand, please note that if you store it in an environment where the shrinkage temperature is high, it will begin to shrink.)
Many people shrink the tube using a lighter or other device, but this can become too hot and can affect the object being shrunk or burn the tube, so we recommend using a special hair dryer.
It is a very useful item because it allows you to adjust the temperature and apply heat evenly, or use a nozzle to apply heat to specific areas. It is sold under names such as "heat gun," "heat dryer," and "industrial dryer."

Q4.What are the features of Denka Electron's heat shrink tubing?
A. Four major features
①Earth-friendly
All of Denka Electron's heat shrink tubing series contain almost no harmful substances.
Denka Electron strives to develop environmentally friendly products , and most of our products meet the requirements of RoHS and REACH regulations.
We also accept requests for other environmental surveys, so please contact us if you have any necessary documents.

②Supports a wide variety of uses
We offer a wide variety of tubes to suit your needs.
We manufacture tubes with a variety of features, including seven colors , heat-resistant heat-shrinkable tubes, and tubes with a shrinkage rate of 1/6 (there are few heat-shrinkable tube manufacturers in the world that produce products with such a shrinkage rate).

3) No marking type: No markings are applied to the surface of any product.
Many people use heat shrink tubing for marking wiring instructions. In that case, if our company's mark or UL certification mark is used, it can cause inconvenience as the characters may overlap, so all products are non-marking. We also offer printing services. Please contact us for product details and quote requests.

④High quality
We produce our products under strict quality control.
The manufacturing country is Southern China, which is a mecca for manufacturing factories. The factory is ISO9001 certified. It specializes in the manufacture of heat shrink tubing on a vast site and exports it to countries around the world every day.
Q5.How do I choose heat shrink tubing?
Please search based on the size of the wires or harnesses to be covered, the environment in which they will be used, etc. Check the inner diameter (φ number) of the tube before and after shrinking, and select an appropriate tube taking into consideration the level difference in the target, shrinking time, etc.
